Rima McDonald, Founder/Publisher of Women’s Online Magazine™, is also the Managing Director of Penelo Pea & Co. LLC, an online media and marketing agency based in the United States. With the company operating two user-generated content websites— Women’s Online Magazine™ and Business Resources Podcast Directory, there is no wonder how big her social capital is today.
Rima has more than 15 years of business management experience and specializes in marketing; she utilizes her skills in developing websites that allow her to promote small business owners as leaders in the Internet community. Her strengths include advertising, promotions, networking, Internet marketing, niche-marketing, and developing business opportunities with strategic partners. Together with her marketing team, she works tirelessly to create a significant online presence by actively networking on several social networking websites including Facebook.
Rima understands the expectations and needs of her web visitors, so she continues to look for ways on how to make each visitor’s visit memorable. After a year of research, she finally developed her own web portal for an all-new Women’s Online Magazine™ designed with the specific goal of establishing Women’s Online Magazine™ in major cities and countries around the world. This new portal is designed to stream video shows and “live” webcasts featuring experts on popular women interest topics.
As she was developing the new portal, she realized that the portal could be made available to other publishers as well, specifically for those who wish to present women interest topics in the form of audio, video and print media through an online platform that is not only search engine optimized but has the potential of generating multiple streams of income. Therefore, the license to operate a local version of Women’s Online Magazine™ was created. Income can be generated through sales from advertising, public relation services, as well as product sales (books, DVDs, etc through affiliate programs).
In a recent interview, Rima said “Owning and operating a small business like online publishing, or even B2B services can still provide an income in a slow economy where millions of jobs have been lost. Entrepreneurship still offers a valid means to thrive, and women in particular need to think about their Plan B - establishing a small business, whether or not they have a full time job. By doing so, they can be assured that there’s still income coming in, big or small, from their small enterprise, which could be used to help them over difficult times.”
In addition, as publishers operate a local version of Women’s Online Magazine™, they are intentionally building their own target audience that may become helpful to them in future endeavors, while at the same time allowing them to take a leadership role within their own community and expand their circle of influence.
Since Rima began promoting the licensing opportunity through online social networking, the company has secured the interest of targeted publishers in Sydney, London, San Francisco, New York, and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). As a result, Women’s Online Magazine™ United Kingdom, Women’s Online Magazine™ Australia, and Women’s Online Magazine™ Los Angeles were launched January 2009.
“Running an online magazine is quite a glamorous job, you know? We received a lot of request for review of newly launched products from public relation professionals and entrepreneurs. We not only get to try these products for free, it gives us the opportunity to learn the latest inventions, ideas, and concepts women are developing today. That’s what makes this business interesting,” Rima continued.

“Rima, how the heck did you get a page rank of 2 from a 4 when Google hasn’t even had a page rank update lately. We are so baffled cause we try so hard to get ours raised and noticed yours changed over night!” Pam McCall from www.McCallsFloorMart.com
