Elizabeth Krause grew up in an Italian home as the youngest of 5 children. Although she was never taught the Italian language, there was one word her Grandmother made sure everyone knew, “Mangia!” (Eat!). Elizabeth always loved her mother’s Italian meals, but she never acquired an interest in cooking. Little did she know, this would soon catch up to her later in life. After graduating college in Nashville, TN she returned home and took advantage of her single life by taking a 6 week solo back packing trip through Europe. Her most memorable time was the 10 days she spent in a small town in Italy where her grandparents were born. She stayed with her Italian relatives who may not have known how to speak much English, but sure knew how to put the most amazing meals on the table.
When she later married her Italian husband, her cooking skills were put to the test, and did not pass. It did not take long before she realized she needed to cook meals other than chicken fajitas and spaghetti. Her answer came while vacationing with his family; she noticed her Italian mother in law always seemed to whip up a simple tasty dish for her husband and her to eat without batting an eye. It was then Elizabeth realized she needed to take Italian cooking more seriously so she could do the same.
With the help of her Italian family, she started gathering simple recipes that she knew she could prepare with her busy schedule. Over time her cooking began to improve to where she no longer needed to look in her recipe box just to prepare a good lunch or dinner meal. For the first time, she had truly fallen in love not just with cooking, but specifically with Italian cooking.
Today she owns and operates her own Italian cooking website www.SimpleItalianCooking.com where she posts her continuously growing list of simple Italian recipes for the public to take advantage of. She also candidly blogs about her kitchen experiences and offers practical kitchen tips which she has learned over the years. Elizabeth also offers a weekly newsletter for people to join at www.simpleitaliancooking.com to receive weekly announcements regarding recipes and other postings.
