Kristin Marquet had the childhood dream of working in a creative or a scientific field – fashion editor or designer, or a surgeon, even though her father was a jewelry designer and retailer and her mother was a painter. However, as Kristin was exposed to high levels of creativity, design, and entrepreneurialism by working with her father as the public relations director of his retail boutique, she decided she wanted to pursue accessory design, marketing, and writing.
Her background in fashion and media started when she was working as a fashion model in the early 2000’s. Withdrawing from college her sophomore year to pursue modeling, she worked with various photographers, make up artists, and stylists. However, after a few years in the modeling industry, she became tired of not eating just to fit into the sample size 2, as well as all the politics that came from casting directors, photographers, and bookers. As a result, she left the modeling industry to finish a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
Kristin’s marketing journey began when she was head of marketing for a law firm. After a year, she had enough of office politics and took the risk of starting her first company Marquet Communications, now Marquet Media LLC. Her clientele expanded rapidly and the company evolved into a boutique firm that specializes in online branding and public relations for the fashion, beauty, and accessory industries.
Kristin’s mission is to assist Internet based businesses in generating better return on investment dollars through the use of effective copywriting and public relations. It does not matter whether it is a print advertisement, a social media campaign, a website, or an optimized press release, Kristin understands that strong copy, branding, and publicity are the keys to generating more leads and converting those leads into existing customers.
An entrepreneur, author, and business columnist, Marquet is a media savvy personality whose media credits are interviews with author and entrepreneur, Elisa Balabram of Women and Biz Magazine; Coach Deb Bailey, the Business Coach Expert; Coach Karriem Smith, the highly esteemed life coach and business expert; Isabel Isirado, Editor of business magazine, Women’s Home Business, as well as Sharifah Hardie, Google’s top ranked professional business consultant.
