<p>Syrtash maintains that when people date outside of their prescribed “types”, they open their hearts to much more opportunity and find love in unexpected ways.  I asked her about breaking old habits, taking risks, and marrying her own “non-type”.  </p>
<p><strong>1. So, what exactly is a &#8220;non-type&#8221;?  Is this a form of settling?</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong>A nontype is a person you fall for who is nothing like the kind of person you thought you&#8217;d want to marry! If your type is usually an extrovert, your nontype is an introvert. If you swore you&#8217;d never date a guy long-distance, your nontype is the one who lives outside your state. Basically, an NT looks different from your past boyfriends&#8230;.and in my opinion, this is why it works!</p>
<p>By no means am I encouraging women to settle. In fact, I dedicated my book to women who should never feel they have to settle in order to settle down. I actually think we&#8217;re settling when we simply follow a straight superficial checklist and don&#8217;t demand a deeper connection. I don&#8217;t think any of us should pair off with someone who isn&#8217;t a good lover, partner, companion and friend. Single women deserve to be supported, cherished and excited to be with the person they choose as a partner. Don&#8217;t settle for less!</p>
<p><strong>2. You maintain that a lot of women don&#8217;t date &#8220;consciously&#8221;.  Describe what you mean.</strong></p>
<p>I think that in dating, and in life for that matter, many of us get into patterns and do things because we always do them. Chances are that friendships, jobs and other aspects of our lives have transformed and evolved since high school and college &#8211; but for some reason, many women are still hanging on to the &#8216;type&#8217; of guy they described eons ago.</p>
<p>My wish is that singles don&#8217;t end up victimized by their dating choices (i.e &#8211; &#8220;I always date cheaters&#8221;). Sometimes we forget that we have a choice and once we&#8217;re more conscious of our needs and wants, we can make better decisions. In the book, I offer some exercises for the reader to bring consciousness around what &#8211; and who &#8211; she is looking for.</p>
<p><strong>3. I thought it was interesting when you mentioned how many women evolve in their careers and interests as they grow older, but their preferences in men stay the same.  What can women do to make their choices in men evolve along with them?</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve devised some checklists in the book to help bring clarity around who their &#8216;type&#8217; is today. For instance, I included an exercise on identifying core values since I think sharing values is the basis for a good match. Our values can also evolve over time.</p>
<p>I also ask the reader write out 5 &#8216;must haves&#8217; and 5 &#8216;can&#8217;t stands&#8217;. I&#8217;ve limited the list of qualities to five on each side, so none of us walk around with a huge laundry list of dealbreakers (if we do, we&#8217;re not well positioned for success!). When you&#8217;re making the list, know the difference between wants/needs and preferences. I confine the list to only a few qualities so you can get laser-focused on the kind of person that you want in your life at this point in time. If you filled out the chart 10 years ago, you may have said &#8216;I must have a guy who can dance&#8217; and now you may replace it with something more substantial like &#8220;I must have a guy who has good family values&#8217;. Know what you are looking for!</p>
<p>Finally, I&#8217;ve edited the expression from &#8216;It&#8217;s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all&#8221; to &#8220;It&#8217;s better to have loved and *learned than to never have loved at all&#8221;. What&#8217;s the point of experiencing heartbreak if you don&#8217;t walk away with lessons and decide who you want to be with and how you want to be in a future relationship?</p>
<p><strong>4. Towards the end of the book, you talk about the risk-taking and how important it is to living a happy life as well as meeting your significant other.  Dating entails a lot of rejection, which makes us averse to risk-taking.  What steps would you advise in taking more risks in our dating lives?</strong></p>
<p>One of my favorite quotes about taking risks is &#8220;Our lives improve only when we take chances &#8211; and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves&#8221; (Walter Anderson)</p>
<p>You are not living to your best potential if you play small and don&#8217;t let anybody see you for fear of rejection. Rejection is a normal part of dating. In fact, <em>expect</em> to be rejected and<a href="http://www.womensonlinemagazine.com/losangeles/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Andrea-Syrtash2.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-890" title="Andrea Syrtash2" src="http://www.womensonlinemagazine.com/losangeles/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Andrea-Syrtash2.jpg" alt="Andrea Syrtash2" width="150" height="173" /></a> to do some rejecting. Every date will be &#8216;unsuccessful&#8217; before you meet the person you want to marry so you&#8217;re not supposed to hit it off with everyone.</p>
<p>One of my mantras about taking risks is &#8220;I&#8217;m scared AND I&#8217;ll do it any way&#8221;. </p>

It would smell fresh and clean and almost look like a  new room. No matter how hard I tried, I could never clean my room like my Mother when she was in spring  cleaning mode. </p>
<p>Now that spring has sprung….it is time to put the old spring cleaning principle to work on our hair and  make-up products and accessories.  Make-up has a shelf life and spring is a great time to re-organize and clean out our stashes.</p>
<h2> A great place to start is your make-up drawer.  Be sure to recycle containers when you can.</h2>
<ul>
<li>Discard any crumbling or hardened powdered eye shadows, blushes, foundations.</li>
<li>Throw away any waxy or sour smelling lipsticks, cream foundations, eye shadows and blushes.</li>
<li>Replace mascara after 3 months use.</li>
<li>Wipe off the containers of any make-up that you are putting back into the drawer.</li>
<li>Use drawer organizers to keep your make-up orderly and neat.</li>
</ul>
<p>Wash* your make-up brushes with a conditioning shampoo.  (This should be done 2 times per month at  least.)</p>
<h2>*How to wash your make-up brushes…….</h2>
<p>Wet each brush and then swirl with a little shampoo and lather the bristles in the palm of your hand.  Rinse the bristles until the water runs clean and squeeze out the excess.  Lay the brush on a towel to dry.</p>
<h2>Next is the hair drawer.</h2>
<p>Wash your hair brushes and combs. A cleansing shampoo works fine. (Should be done at least bi-weekly)</p>
<li>Clean curling iron barrels and flat iron plates with a soft cloth and a little alcohol.  It will remove any product build-up and keep your irons from sticking to your hair.</li>
<li>Use drawer organizers to organize your hair accessories, shampoos and conditioners.</li>
<li>Consolidate old conditioners and shampoos. These products can be used to clean your hair and make-up brushes.<br />
<h2>Finally, let’s clean out our make-up bags….</h2>
<ul>
<li>Start with a clean, new make-up bag, replacing your old bag at least yearly. As with the make-up drawer, discard any crumbling or hardened powdered eye shadows, blushes, foundations.</li>
<li>Throw away any waxy or sour smelling lipsticks, cream foundations, eye shadows and blushes and replace with new make-up.</li>
<li>Replace mascara after 3 months use.</li>
<li>Wash* your make-up brushes with a conditioning shampoo.  (This should be done 2 times per month at  least.)</li>
</ul>

<p>Unlike many other diet programs the LA Weight Loss recipes are interesting and are not bland or one dimensional. Therefore believe it or not you get to eat strawberry shortcake on this program. Yes it might consist of some slightly different ingredients to what you would normally use, but strawberry shortcake it is nonetheless.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s how you would go about making this lovely little dish. Get a handful of small strawberries, a rice cake, a tablespoon of lemon juice and one of the LA Weight Loss drink mixes.  The preparation to make up this shortcake is pretty simple and straight forward.  Drop the rice cake in a bowl, wash and prepare the strawberries before placing them on the top of your rice cake and all you then do is pour the LA Drink over the strawberries and leave it to set.</p>
<p>Love sweet and sour chicken? Well as LA Weight Loss Recipes go, the sweet and sour chicken is up there with the most indulgent and exotic.  Consisting of one protein, two vegetables and a fruit group, this recipe is a pretty simple one to follow and prepare. Simply get together about 8oz of boneless and skinned chicken breast, a green or red pepper, 3 green onions, some red wine vinegar, cornstarch and some tomato ketchup.  Cube some fresh pineapple, add some chopped tomato and some chicken broth and some nonfat cooking spray.</p>
<p>The preparation is now all about making the food quick to cook using a wok and that means cutting the chicken and the vegetables into thin strips or pieces.  Using the cooking spray first the vegetables are stir-fried and then the chicken. The next step is to add the other ingredients to the wok and to add the taste to this meal.</p>
<p>So as you can see, the recipes you can utilize on this program are based on classics that we all know and love and really that&#8217;s why this program is the hit it is!</p>

<p>This might be an extreme example, but the increasing importance people place on environmental conservation is all around us.  More hybrid cars are on the road.  Recycling bins are common at Farmer’s Markets and other pedestrian-friendly areas around L.A.  People are buying locally-produced, organic foods.  And despite the threat of closing some state parks, volunteers are taking it upon themselves to maintain trails and parks.</p>
<p>But when did environmental awareness affect dating?</p>
<p>There are several trends developing in <em>how</em> people are dating, including where they go, what they eat, and how they get there.  Some include walking or biking to a meeting place for a date, enjoying a locally-grown vegetarian meal together, or catching the bus to the closest Sunday morning flea market.</p>

There is no doubt that losing weight is hard. The deck is stacked against you these days. Portions get bigger and bigger, and there is continually more calories being pushed into our faces. We are constantly bombarded with ads encouraging us to eat, and our foods are filled with trans fats and high fructose corn syrup.</p>
<p>Frankly, it’s a miracle that anyone ever manages to lose weight and, not surprisingly, most people don’t. You can, though, and food calorie counters can be a real help in getting you there. All it takes is a little knowledge, a little willpower and some help from one of the food calorie counters.</p>
<p>Essentially, all diets work under the same premise. They may claim to have special biological properties or work by some strange mixture of foods, but really, all any diet does is cause you to eat less. Eat enough less, and you will start losing weight. It really is that simple.</p>
<p>Most diets work by omitting one of the three macronutrients, usually either fat or carbohydrates. If the diet restricts carbs, the natural satiating properties of fat and protein will keep you fuller and reduce your calories. If they reduce fat and have you focus on complex carbs, the sheer bulk of the food will automatically reduce your calories.</p>
<p>This can be effective, but it necessarily means that you have to omit a lot of foods you really like, and this is something that food calorie counters can help you avoid. They allow you to have the knowledge of calories and nutrients that will allow you to lose weight permanently, quickly and easily.</p>

With the arrival of the internet, this has become much easier than it ever was before. Now all you need to do is select your foods from a pulldown menu and the food calorie counters will calculate the levels for you.</p>
<p>This allows you to lose weight by putting the power in your hands. What you have to do is take in fewer calories than you are burning. The easiest way to do this is by making certain food substitutions. If you know, for example, that the mac and cheese you’re eating contains 700 calories, the food calorie counters can tell you about a number of alternate foods that can half that amount.</p>
<p>The food calorie counters can also allow you to tailor your portion size. By properly adjusting your meals, you can have the best of both worlds: you can eat what you want and still lose weight. The thing to remember is that it doesn’t take a huge amount of calories to lose weight; even dropping 200 calories from your daily menu will have you losing 20 pounds over the course of the year. If used properly, food calorie counters can be a powerful weapon in the war against fat.</p>

Many foods that taste good are not good for you and in order to lose weight you have to limit those foods in your diet. Some foods that have a little taste but low calories and stimulate your metabolism can be cooked in a manner that makes them taste great and you can eat more of them so that you feel full and satisfied with your eating.<br />

<p>If you are unsure what to eat to lose weight and you need to start losing weight to get in shape, you should consider going on a diet that described the foods you need to eat. You can also consult with your physician who will tell you what to eat to lose weight or will refer you to a nutritionist who will take the time to explain not only what to eat to lose weight but the portions of those foods to eat, when to eat them and what type of weight loss you can expect.<br />
 </p>
<p>When you begin to learn what to eat to lose weight, it can be a good feeling in more ways than one. Your body will start to release the unwanted fat stores, your metabolism will speed up and cause more fat to burn, you will notice your clothes start to fit better and will become too loose after awhile and equally important, you will start to feel good mentally. This last aspect of your mental state of mind can be the result of knowing what to eat to lose weight and eating those healthy and good tasting foods on a regular basis, which directly affects a natural good feeling.<br />

<h2>Do DIY if:</h2>
<ul>
<li>You want to cover grey and stay close to your natural color</li>
<li>You want to add shine and enhance or tone your natural color</li>
<li>You are going only 1 or 2 shades lighter</li>
<li>You want to go darker</li>
</ul>
<h2> Do Not DIY if:</h2>
<p>  You have medium brown to dark brown or black hair and you want to go blonde or get blonde highlights</p>
<ul>
<li>You want to go lighter and you don’t want any reddish or gold tones in your hair</li>
<li>You want to go darker after being blonde</li>
<li>You want to remove or lighten a dark color immediately after coloring your hair dark</li>
<li>You want to correct a color that turned green or orange.</li>
</ul>

Hair coloring basic rules<br />
 </h2>
<ul>
<li>Dark hair has undertones of red, orange and yellow that have to be removed before you can get to blonde</li>
<li>Hair cannot be lightened unless the formula contains peroxide and ammonia</li>
<li>Overlapping bleach or highlights on previously lightened hair will weaken the hair and cause breakage</li>
<li>Color glosses can be used over any color to remove brassiness, tone hair, add shine and condition</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> Types of Hair Color</strong></p>
<p>Semi-Permanent Color/Color Glaze- Temporary hair color that can enhance your current color or darken your current shade.  Cannot lighten hair, lasts 6-8 shampoos and washes out with no roots. Contains no peroxide or ammonia (which is drying to the hair) and adds conditioning and shine.</p>
<p><em><strong>For DIY try: John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze</strong></em></p>
<p><em> </em><strong>Demi-Permanent Color</strong>- Temporary color rinse that is great for blending grey and moderate grey coverage. Contains low peroxide and little to no ammonia so hair fades with no roots. Cannot lighten hair and lasts 24-26 shampoos</p>
<p><em><strong>For DIY try: L’Oreal Paris Healthy Look Color Gloss</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Permanent Color</strong>- Permanent hair colors use peroxide and ammonia to change and deposit color permanently.  It does not wash out and needs to be touched up every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain the roots.  Most color formulations can lighten hair 2-4 levels.  It also permanently darkens hair and fully covers grey.</p>
<p><em><strong>For DIY try: Garnier Nutrisse Nourshing Color Creme</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Bleach</strong>- Bleach contains peroxide and ammonia and is used to get light hair colors. </p>
<p><em><strong>Not recommended to DIY</strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Highlights</strong>- Pieces of hair are lightened permanently with bleach to get a multi-dimensional look.  Roots can be maintained between 8-12 weeks.</p>
<p><em><strong>Not recommended to DIY</strong></em></p>
<p>With these tips, you can visit the pro when needed and easily cover grey, add shine and conditioning and enhance your hair color in between pro visits. Give yourself a spring-time beauty boost with a color glaze.</p>

The point of most of the three day diets is to lose weight as quickly as possible, and most of them are pretty good at it, so what you need to do is find the diet that is right for you.</p>
<p>A major appeal of three day diets is that they only last three days so the limited variety of options usually isn’t a problem, most people can do three days of any diet. Once you have the proper 3 day diet info, you can start on the diet and begin losing weight immediately.</p>
<p>You will find the Mayo Clinic Three Day Diet is most popular of the diets, and there is loads of 3 day diet info out there pertaining to it. Also known as the Grapefruit Diet, the diet has you eating half a grapefruit before each meal.</p>
<p>This diet also limits carbohydrates, with most the food coming from meat, vegetables and eggs. This, combined with the grapefruit, results in a rapid loss of water and bloat, so you can lose as much as six pounds over the course of the three days. This is the best diet for people who like to eat a lot, but don’t mind a limited variety.</p>
<p>The Cleveland Clinic Diet is very similar to the Mayo Clinic diet in that it consists of a short three day period where you consume a low carbohydrate low calorie diet. It’s different in that it omits the grapefruit and allows to you to have things like toast, peanut butter and ice cream.</p>
<p>However the downside to the greater variety is that calories are much more restricted. So while you get to eat a lot more things, you get to eat very little of them If you’re a person who loves having a full belly and doesn’t deal with hunger, then this may not be the diet for you.</p>
<p> 3 day diet info for the Tuna and water Diet tends to be the sketchiest of all. There are basically two versions of this diet. The more common, and much easier to follow, version is to have tuna and salad at each meal, only with large amounts of water.</p>
<p>Another version is just tuna and water, and this will give you the most weight loss of all the three day diets. It is also the hardest to follow, and is the one you absolutely must do properly. Both versions will result in rapid weight loss, and require a tolerance for bland food.</p>
<p>There are a lot of diets out, but with this 3 day diet info, you’ll be equipped to make the right decision about which diet is for you.</p>

In all my years as a hair stylist and now a make-up artist, I have always helped and encouraged my clients work with what they have. People rarely need the drastic procedures they are convinced they have to have in order to look more beautiful.  I think being confident in who you are along with some easy beauty boosters brings beauty to its highest level. </p>
<p> Here are 10 easy beauty boosters that can help you show off your personal beauty confidence without the time and expense of more extensive procedures.</p>
<p><em><span style="color: #c32759;"> 1      <strong>A Nice smile</strong>- White teeth and healthy gums are immediately noticeable and can raise your beauty quotient. Be sure to brush and floss daily and get your teeth brightened as necessary.</span></em></p>
<p><em><span style="color: #c32759;"> 2      <strong>Well groomed eyebrows</strong>- Nicely arched eyebrows can give you an instant lift because they open up the eye to create a polished look.  With maintained eyebrows, you can literally walk out the door with mascara, a little bronzer and lip gloss and look pulled together.</span></em></p>

<p>The following are a few of the advantages from losing the excess weight.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #c02040;">Weight loss prevents high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke</span></h3>
<p>That is a three in one benefit from losing weight. It is a fact that heart disease and stroke are one of the primary reasons for disability and death in both men and women in the US. People who are overweight have a higher risk to have high levels of cholesterol in their blood stream as well as triglycerides (also known as blood fat). </p>
<p>Angina, one type of heart disease, could cause chest pains as well as a decrease in the oxygen pumped to the heart. </p>
<p>Sudden death also occurs from heart disease and stroke, and usually this strikes with very little warning, signs and symptoms.</p>
<p>It is a fact that by decreasing your weight by a mere five to ten percent, this could positively decrease the chances of you having or developing heart disease or a stroke. Plus, how your heart functions would also improve as well as your blood pressure, cholesterol and your triglyceride count will decrease.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #c02040;">Weight loss prevents type 2 diabetes</span></h3>
<p>Diabetes puts in jeopardy one’s life as well as how one leads his or her life because of the complications that result from having it.  Both types of diabetes, type one and type two are linked with being overweight.  To those who already have diabetes, regular exercise and losing weight could help in controlling your blood sugar levels as well as the medication you may be currently taking. Increase your physical activity. You could simply walk, jog or dance. It helps get the blood streams moving as well as helping lose unnecessary pounds.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #c02040;">Weight loss helps reduce your risk for cancer</span></h3>
<p>Being overweight is linked with a number of kinds of cancer. Especially for women, the common types of cancer that is associated with being overweight include cancer of the uterus, gallbladder, ovary, breast, and colon.  This is not meant to scare you this is only to keep you informed.  Men are at risk too from developing cancer if they are overweight. They include cancer of the colon, prostate and rectum. Extra weight, a diet high in fat and cholesterol should as much as possible be avoided. </p>
<h3><span style="color: #c02040;">Weight loss reduces sleep apnea</span></h3>
<p>Or it could eliminate it all together. Sleep apnea is a condition wherein one could temporarily stop breathing for a brief period and then would continue to snore heavily. Sleep apnea could cause drowsiness or sleepiness during the day and – because of being overweight – could result in heart failure.  Shedding those excess pounds could help in eliminating this problem.</p>
