When I first began in the entertainment industry, I was 11 (no not really!) although it seems like it at times with the experience and wisdom I have acquired along my still very young life.
However my career beginning was still rather early in my years, sparked by an insurmountable passion for the arts and how I could contribute in some manner. As a young girl, I would often organize my own film productions (via my parents’ camcorder), design colorful fashion collections using my Crayola™ Crayons or host board meetings with my dolls discussing well… business.
I always inherently knew that I was destined to be active within the arts and entertainment community without question it really was just the option of which path I would choose to get there. Perhaps one day, I will write a book based on my various encounters but for now I just enjoy each day of the ride.
Now nearly a decade ago, here I am as the founder of my own company, Alliance Global Media for what has seemed like eons to finally get it well underway. My journey has been met with equal mountains and molehills, some that can be simply described as miracles along the way but all the while that one looming question remains “Why did I choose to be an entrepreneur in this field?” To be quite honest with you it is a two-part personal fulfillment that amounts to both purpose and inspiration.
I believe one must be inspired before you can inspire others whether by the projects you work on, individuals you surround yourself with or simply by the life you choose to experience. I have been grateful with my professional pursuits in music, film, fashion, architecture and art to coincide with my personal interests experiencing a delightful balance of the two.
Whether music or film, fashion or art whichever medium all are a means of universal expression that even in the most destitute of regions can uplift the human spirit to bring joy, laughter and even peace. From hearing an inner city teen speak on his unfailing passion of music composition to speaking with a Grammy™ winning music producer on how elated he is to finally see his project come to fruition it is all one in the same— for the actual artistic bout knows no boundaries, no labels, no socio-economic class it is an outward expression stemming from the creative mind. Those elements are the rare gems that keep me in this industry with a grateful smile upon my face.
Personally for me by being passionate about your purpose (my definition, whatever drives you and brings fulfillment) it makes all the difference to enjoy what you do in which I find to be of utter importance for it shows in your creative output. Whether participating on a music panel to developing and managing a musical talent, I have worn many hats (aside from the fashionable Philip Treacy ones!) opportunities which have provided me with a keen insight into the many aspects of the industry. Now that you have had a quick introduction about me, I invite you to come back to “The Music Room” for insight, helpful tips and collective stories within the music industry in which I am hopefully able to add or refresh your already existing knowledge either way.
